Within Scot McKnight's article, the Jesus that makes the most logical sense to me is the "Historical Jesus", but the one that I want believe in is the "Canonical Jesus". The Canonical Jesus provides a sense of hope and freedom to believers because God sacrificed His son to save us from our sins. Yes, the Historical Jesus is reasonable, but sometimes having faith requires believers to look past the gaps in logic. Through Jesus' death sinners receive redemption and that is the ultimate sacrifice of love.
